8. Akuma vs Sagat ****3/4, ACW Animania V 05/07/19 +26
- A match between not only the two greatest fighters in ACW history, but probably in all of fighting games. Two very dangerous men who are nearing the end of their careers, and decide to put on one hell of a show for the audience in attendance. I can’t remember a TV title match ever having as much hype as this match did and it was fantastic. Both of these men coming in at the height of their popularity and it was truly split down the middle. No one really wanted to see these two lose, but at the same time, everyone knew that we had to have an answer to who was better. The match itself was filled to the brim with drama, big time action, and jaw dropping moments. You never knew who could get the victory at any time and that’s what made it special. It is a true testament not only just on how invested people are in these characters, but how invested they are in the promotion as well. The whole thing was just fantastic to watch and the ending itself was an actual tear jerker. If you can find me a match that was as intense as this one, then PLEASE SEND IT TO ME. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE IT. Until then, this will go down as one of the biggest fights of 2019.
7. Marcus King vs TJ Kennedy ****3/4, IPW Triple or Nothing 02/08/19 +27
- Iconic Pro Wrestling is a promotion that rarely posts anymore in the total realm of CAW, but when they do, it’s always a must see event. Enter in Marcus King vs TJ Kennedy. The Triple or Nothing, one match event that would determine who would walk away with the BATTLE PRO Infinite title, the VWU Heartgold Title, and the IPW World Championship. To say that this match was a big deal is an understatement. This was easily the biggest match of either man’s career and they fought their hearts out to prove it. For about 30 minutes, these two put on a masterclass of pure brawling and technical wrestling ability. TJ tried his best to ground and take away the limbs of Marcus as much as possible, but Marcus’ hard hitting style proved to be just as effective on this night as well. It truly is a chess match in a lot of ways. Both men making their next moves and trying not to mess up because if they do, it could spell disaster for the other. It is truly a match that needs to be seen if you want to study how to actually structure a match together. It is absolute brilliance.
