ZAIAH MELTZER'S TOP 100 MATCHES OF 2019: #6 AND #5!

6. Ben Hopkins vs Brandon Wolfe ****3/4, CAS 11 Day 2 08/25/19 +27

- The one thing that I put above all when it comes CAW (or most things in general) it’s improvement. As long as I see that there are people willing to improve their craft, I will always have faith that the virtual wrestling community will thrive each and every day. And I can honestly say that there has not been a more significant improvement in quality than the ones made in this years CAW All-Stars event. Quite easily one of the best show’s of the year, you can honestly see that time and care was given to this to make it the best it could and boy did it succeed. But what good is a show if you don’t end it off with a bang. Enter in the main event of CAW All-Stars 11: Ben Hopkins vs Brandon Wolfe. Two men who are no stranger to one another and two integral parts of CAW All-Stars as whole. To put it simply, this was the biggest main event in CAW All-Stars history and they had no choice but to deliver on this match. And not only did they do that, but they overdelivered in my opinion. This is quite honestly the greatest match in CAW All-Stars history. The story going in, the exquisite storytelling throughout the match, the close near falls near the end of it, and everything else in between. It was a true showcase of their biggest stars, battling it out for one of the most prestigious titles in all of Virtual Wrestling. It is a match that deserves to close out one of the biggest show’s of the year and a prime example of overall improvement.

5. Lollipop Sensations vs The Bombshell Club *****, CCL Supernova +23

- Let’s be honest with ourselves here, tag matches in the new 2K system are hard as fuck. They’re clunky, annoying, and down right frustrating to do. It’s one of the main reason’s why tag team wrestling isn’t a main focus in most show’s you watch nowadays. Tag matches freaking suck to do. Over the past couple of years tho, people have been really mastering their crafts when it comes to tag matches. Whether that be planning out spots better or even using a bit of highlight reel for extra help, tag matches have slowly been making their ways to Prominence yet again. And no where is this shown better than this tag match right here. This is about as exciting of a tag match as you could possibly get and there is never a dull moment to be found. There’s a mix of actual smart tag team offense, some insane tag spots here on out, and even some cool tag team combo’s to boot. And the best thing about all of it is that it felt spontaneous. It felt like most of this was done on the fly and the match just started to flow after awhile. It truly is a work of art to be seen. Mix that in with the overwhelming popularity of both the Bombshell Club and the Lollipop Sensations, and you’ve got a tag match for the ages. It’s not perfect in any regard, but damn it if I didn’t have the most fun watching this match than I did almost any other match this year. It’s fun, it’s great, and it is also a pure tag team classic.
