CAW[n]SPIRACY NIGHT 2 REVIEW!
And we are back! For another edition of Zaiah Meltzer's CAW Show reviews!
We are still on CAW[n]spiracy week and we will continue with Night 2 of CAW[n]spiracy right now!
As always, these are my non-kayfaybe opinions and probably shouldn't be taken too seriously. With that said, ON TO THE REVIEW!
CAW[n]SPIRACY NIGHT 2 STAR RATINGS:
El Noveno vs William Wallace - CAW Interpromotinal Championship - ***1/2 - (Real good match to start off night one. A contest that really built up as it kept going and ended with a satisfying conclusion. Noveno stayed on the offense for most of the beginning and got the heat on Wallace throughout the match. William would start to fight back and showed great fighting spirit. Noveno started to pick up the pace and started to using his Lucha background to catch Wallace off guard. However, Wallace refused to give in, caught Noveno off guard, and tapped him out with a sharpshooter. Very old school type of match. Basic Heel vs Face dynamic, but it worked really well here. Very good stuff.)
Shubble vs John Page - RKDA YouTube Championship - *1/2 (Look there are a lot of things I can excuse when it comes to Virtual Wrestling. I realize that not everybody has the same amount of quality software and hardware that everyone else has. I get that. But… How do you honestly see a match like this and think this is ok to release? And I don’t say this to be an asshole. I say this as a man confused how you see this and think “yeah, everyone will like this”. This was basically that PWG/Chikara slow mo spot… BUT FOR THE ENTIRE MATCH. Just a bunch of slow motion wrestling that felt like it went on FOREVER. IT. WAS. INFURIATING. It was to the point where I couldn’t even pay attention to the commentary because I was befuddled on why anyone would do this. Obviously, I was not a fan of this. Easily skippable match.)
Marcus King vs TJ Kennedy - **** (A very brutal affair from both these men. They just beat the absolute shit out of each other for about 20 minutes. It started off a bit slow with TJ targeting the legs and dodging Marcus as much as possible. Marcus would soon catch on to TJ’s games and caught him off guard with his no nonsense style. From then on, Marcus would beat TJ to a bloody pulp and looked to have the match one. TJ would fight back though and this would lead to a very stunning conclusion to an all out war. If I had one complain about this match it would be that the false finishes were a bit lacking. I never really bought the match was over even when Marcus hit those two blacklists. However, It was made up for from the action throughout the match. So overall, a very well done contest)
Matt Black vs Aether Atomsk - Falls Count Anywhere - ****1/4 (Talk about using the Falls Count Anywhere stipulation to your advantage, these two men did just that. It started off in the ring, but quickly broke down and the two battled all the way to the backstage area. From there on out, They used everything to their advantage. To the production crates, to a fire extinguisher, and even a limo at one point. I mean this was as chaotic of a match you could possibly ask for. In the end though, I had no idea how these two were going to end this one, but boy did it exceed my expectations. A flying DDT from Aether… OFF OF A GOD DAMN PRODUCTION TRUCK. So yeah… I think I have a new pick for “Finish of the Year”. A damn great hardcore match to say the least)
Edge vs Matt Pharaoh - ***3/4 (Another chaotic contest to go with the other chaotic match ups on this show. This one never really seemed to have a pause button. It was just full throttle and pedal to the metal from the beginning of the bell. Edge looking to prove that he could still go despite his career ending injury and Matt looking to make a star out of himself yet again with the performance. While I could go on with the overall pacing of this match and how it was all over the place, I will say that the storytelling here was top notch. To the selling of the neck, to the comebacks, all the way to the ending, it was all done very well. This was probably the most emotionally driven contest on this show so far. Not perfect by any measure, but still very entertaining.)
Captain Falcon vs Bowser - 30 Minute Ironman Match - ****3/4 (I. Loved. This. Match. It was so fucking good. This was the perfect “Hero vs Villain” story and it was played out fantastically throughout this contest. It starts off with both men trying to hit their big moves and from then on, we are off to the races. Bowser tries everything to put Falcon away including a chokeslam on steel steps, a Power bomb on the guard railing, and multiple spears near the end. However, nothing worked. Everything he tried Falcon would kick out of. From then on, it was Falcon fighting back with every big move in his arsenal to take down The Big Bad Koopa Daddy. Multiple flying uppercuts, Falcon Kicks, and Punches and non of it got the job done either. It wasn’t until the end where it looked like Bowser had this match won with a chokeslam, but got too greedy and went for a second one. It was countered and Falcon hit one more Falcon Kick and one more Falcon Punch to seal the deal and to win this contest. The storytellings, the drama, and the action were all there and it was done nearly perfectly. There were a few awkward moments here and there, but nothing to really hinder this contest. It was just pure fan service in every way possible and I loved it. Most certainly a MOTY candidate.)
OVERALL SCORE: 8.25/10 (Other than the Shubble vs John Page match, this was one of the most well produced cards I’ve seen all year. All, except one, we’re very good to amazing, they all served a purpose, and featured different styles to say the least. The main event was a true MOTY candidate and other matches like TJ/Marcus and Aether/Matt are very much worth the watch. Most certainly a better well structured card than night 1 that’s for sure. Go out of your way to watch this if you have time.)
