UCWL/WFS WICKED WORLDS REVIEW!
Coming in more heated than a Becky Lynch fan, Zaiah Meltzer is back again for another CAW Show Review!
On this edition, we are going to be taking a look at the co-produced show between UCWL and WFS, Wicked Worlds!
Now as always, these are my non-kayfaybe opinions and they probably shouldn't be taken too seriously. With that said, ON TO THE REVIEW!
UCWL/WFS WICKED WORLDS STAR RATINGS
So the show initially starts off with PSPower still looking for a client that would needs his “expertise.” This would lead a returning Yuri Boyka to come out and, at first, looked like he had joined up with PSPower, only to kick him in the head a few seconds later. After that, Yuri’s true manager, Gaga, would come out and says that Yuri is still trying to get to 100% and, when that happens, he is going to go after Nathan Explosion. A pretty good opening segment to start off the show.
Tobias vs Levi Ackerman - *** (A pretty good contest to start off the show. Nothing too spectacular, but also, not too bad either. For the most part, this kept a very standard and steady pace. Other than an Asai moonsault, there was nothing very flashy or eye capturing about the match, but it had its moments as well. I especially liked the moment where it looked like Tobias was going to win by count out but once the ref reached nine, he stoped him. So that was cool. The finishing stretch was also done well. Both men trading big maneuvers and waiting to see who could hit their finish first in order to get the victory. Unfortunately for Levi, Tobias hit a huge knee and a discus lariat for the win. A good start for what’s to come.)
Samantha Hart vs Tia Benson - #1 Contenders Match for the WFS Uncaged Title - ***3/4 (A continuation to what has been one of my favorite feuds in all of virtual wrestling and I can safely say that they did their thing again in this one. This was a very hard hitting affair between two rivals. It started out with them just brawling and throwing punches at one another for a good couple of minutes. And then things started to get ugly as they started throwing suplexes, hitting each other with chairs, and just basically beating the hell out of one another. They had some good back and forth and it seems that the match was about to reach its fever pitch. However, that would not be the case as both Samantha and Tia would get attacked by Nia Jax and Jade Hawk and would have the match thrown out because of them. Nia would decimate Samantha and Jade would go on to put Tia through a table. Obviously, I would have liked to see an actual finish to this match, but taking the finish out of question, this was still really good contest. I love that the longer the feud goes on between the two, the more personal it gets. Just like how most feuds should go. Hopefully, we get some sort of conclusion between Jade, Samantha, and Tia, but until then, we’re gonna have leave this as a really good, but unfinished, wrestling contest.)
Yaiba Kamikaze vs Charles Schultz - Champion vs Champion - ***1/2 (I think I have a pinpoint on what Charles character is in virtual wrestling. He is the CAW equivalent of Brian Cage. He get’s his shit in, most of his moves are usually moves that could be finishers themselves, and he doesn’t sell shit… With that said, this was still a really good match. Despite a corner spot where Charles kept kicking at the air for some reason, these two put on one hell of a performance. This was very fast moving, action packed, and exciting as hell. The only reason this match doesn’t get a higher rating his because I don’t really have much of a story to go on other than Yaiba calling Charles a turd in a promo. At the finish, it looked like Charles had this one pretty much in the bag until James Needham made his presence felt and distracted him long enough for Yaiba to take advantage and get the victory. If you like indy type, spottiest matches, then chances are you are going to enjoy this one. Just non stop fun in my opinion.)
Ed vs Adonis Creed - Grudge Match - ****1/4 (There is not one part of this match that doesn’t rule. The story is awesome, the lead up is awesome, and the match itself is indeed awesome. Right from the get go, this had a big fight feel. Ed has been trying to get inside Adonis’ head for months by attacking him and verbally attacking his own family. It all came to ahead here in this grudge match and from that point on it was just pure bliss. With the addition of Falke and Rocky being managers, this was just wrestling storyline perfection. From Falke getting involved in any way she could, to Rocky actually encouraging Adonis to keep on fighting, all the way to Ed doing everything in his power to win and Adonis showing true babyface spirit by cutting him off every chance he got, I don’t think there was an aspect of this I didn’t like. It was all done so damn well and the finish of this thing is probably going to go down as one of the most satisfying endings of 2019. An absolute wonderful contest with a great ending to boot.)
Daisy Johnson vs Jade Hawk - Champion vs Champion - ***1/2 (Another very good, back and forth contest between these two ladies. Jade brought upon a more joshi style than I was expecting from her but I dug it. She controlled a lot of this contest and even unleashed some devastating moves onto Daisy such as a German Suplex on the steel steps. So yea… Ow. Daisy would soon get some offense of her own including this weird voodoo neck breaker she kept pulling out that looked like the work of the devil. She also used a plethora of strikes and wrestling tosses that I enjoyed. And just when it looked like Daisy had the match won, who would make their presence known other than the woman who stole Quakes belt, non other than two hands herself, Revy. Her music would distract Daisy and Jade would take advantage and get the victory… I’m starting to see a pattern here. But nonetheless, this was still a really good wrestling match between two top women in virtual wrestling.
Green Arrow vs Malik Brown - *** (I think it’s fair to say that this is probably the most disappointing match on the card considering what the ending was, but I will start at the beginning. This started it off pretty fast paced and hard hitting with both men using their big moves early on in the contest. Arrow caught Malik with some fast strikes and Malik would answer back with some his own. Eventually this would lead to Malik using some of his more vicious moves in his arsenal especially him using a kneecap brain buster on the outside. I don’t think the match went more than like 7 or 8 minutes before the WFS world champion, Tony Gordon, decided to get involved, attack Malik, and get the match thrown out. I don’t mind having to continuing a storyline and whatnot, but I feel like this could’ve waited until the match was over. I’ll admit that this got some good heel heat on Gordon, but considering there has already been tons of outside interference already on this show, I don’t think this was needed all that much. A decent match with an unneeded ending in my opinion.
Edward Elric vs Matt Pharaoh - **** (A very bloody affair between Pharaoh and Elric. According to V-Pac, the match was changed to uncaged to rules so that Elric could fight Matt in his own style and beat him and, I will say that he got very damn close to doing so. Both men beat the absolute hell out of each other for a 15 to 20 minutes and it was quite a sight to see. Elric, at points, looked like he could have had the match won at any point but Matt Pharaoh kept showing his resiliency and kicked out of everything Elric through at him including I believe 3 alchemy’s. Matt would then go and fight back with everything he could, but Edward would not make it easy for him. Cutting him off the best he could so that Matt couldn’t hit his super kick again. By the end, Edwards anger got the best of him and Matt would take advantage by hitting Edward with his own finishing move, The Alchemy for the win. A very exciting hardcore match between the top star and break out star of 2018.
Nathan Explosion vs Zeus Alexander - ***3/4 (This was a very long, but also a very well done main event match. This didn’t have any high flying maneuvers or dangerous indy spots. This was just a battle between two big ass men, punching and tossing each other around for nearly 30 minutes. Zeus Alexander is the ultimate babyface in my honest opinion. Coming in with a very unique look, but despite that, will give you the fight of his life no matter what situation he is in. There were many times in this contest were I actually believed that Zeus Alexander was finally going to win the big one. However, Nathan Explosion has proven over the course of a year, to be one of the most improved characters here in virtual wrestling. His hard hitting style really goes with his metal attitude and I can safely say the he has found his stride as a wrestler. Just being unrelenting on Zeus and using dangerous moves like Piledrivers and elbows to keep his opponent down. Either man looked like they could take it at any stage, but it was Nathan who hit one more Metalocalypse for the win. This was a straight up brawl between two mainly men with everything on the line. This was their chance to show everyone what they bring to the table and they brought a lot to offer. I would say that this match could’ve been better if I had been shortened down by just a bit, but for what we got, it was still a very good way to close out the show.)
OVERALL SCORE: 7.75/10 (This was just a damn fun show to sit through. Not one bad match on the card even if you could make the argument that Malik and Arrow should’ve been more than what it was. Everything had a purpose and the show moved at well kept pace. I will say that maybe next time we could cut it down on the outside interferences as they tended to get a bit tedious at times and really put a damper on some of these matches. Other than that, this show had great storytelling, great showcase matches, and an overall great presentation. Really good crossover show in my opinion.)
Still got more shows to do but, like always, if you have a show you want me to review on this page, then make sure to leave a suggestion in the comment section below.
